Groove
last modified: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 (8:28:45 PM CST)
You know what really grinds my gears? Sorry Family Guy on the mind. Being in a groove and having it interrupted. I am in the process of redesigning our company magazine and having the first issue done this week. I swear, every time I get into a good working groove, something just HAS to come up. The groove is broken and I can't seem to put it back together for at least a half hour. Broken, shattered, destroyed.

Granted, it does give me time to go on a cel hunt and stare at the auctions I am debating on bidding. And give me time to write a blog. But still....I want my groove back. Sigh.

On a side note, I am totally updating this weekend. I figured if I put it in writing on my blog, I might actually feel committed to doing it. We will see.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hubby Bday
last modified: Tuesday, September 02, 2008 (8:46:04 PM CST)
Sorry no cel blog but still a happy blog that will help release some of my excitement.

It is my hubby's bday tomorrow and we will get to spend it together for once since he is usually stuck on a ship at this time of year.

Do you ever get a gift for someone and have a big dumb grin on your face cause it is just perfect? I did that today. Looked ridiculous. But I bought my hubby a Wii (yes, we are behind the times). We were going to buy it as a Christmas gift for each other so this will be a huge surprise. I am so excited to see his face! Can't wait until tomorrow. Yes, simple pleasures. You think he will let me play it?

Work Music
last modified: Sunday, August 24, 2008 (11:10:18 PM CST)
Soothing...random post:

It is amazing how much music helps at work. Our office has this horrible radio station and I finally got the radio moved away from my desk. But now I need to drown out my annoying co-worker. So at first I tried listening to the Alternative and Rock I love but this would only pump me up to have more livid arguments. This weekend I bought a classical CD set with Bach, Beethoven and Mozart. I had forgotten how lovely some of the classical songs can be. Really relaxing and gets me through the day without biting anyone's head off. Sort of makes me want to play piano again.

Do you listen to anything at work? What?

Gallery Layout and Question
last modified: Wednesday, January 16, 2008 (5:28:47 PM CST)
Hi,
I got really (and i mean really) bored this past week so re-did my gallery layout. Yes, for how long I worked on an idea you would think it would be more interesting. BUT, when you are bored it is hard to think fast. Anyways, I think it will stay this way for a bit.

And for the question. How important are thumbnails to you guys? I mean I could redo these too and make them look all the same size and uniform (pretty watermark and all). But, do you guys honestly care? Or is it more about just being able to see what the cel is? Any help would be much appreciated.

BTW Japan is cold (freezing) during the winter. I want to crawl into a hole. And sweltering hot during the summer. Why do people want to live here?!? :P Cold....

Japan: Cake
last modified: Thursday, June 21, 2007 (3:49:58 AM CST)
Hi,
First blog from Japan. Been here about two months and only am now writing anything. I am just never in the mood. Now strangely enough, the first thing I am going to blog about is the pastries here.

When I used to watch Sailor Moon the desserts always looked so amazing and I didn't think they were real. Well, I have found out they are! There are baked good shops every where and I am not lying when I say they have some of the best desserts I have ever had. I even found a shop that sells cake that tastes exactly like my wedding cake! My husband will be so surprised when he gets back.

But seriously, I totally thought I would lose weight becuase I pretty much hate the rest of the food but the cakes... Sigh, looks like I will have to hit the gym more than I want to. :D

Cake....

Cake....

Bidding Scam
last modified: Saturday, December 10, 2005 (11:00:30 PM CST)
Pricing is usually relative in my opinion because people will only pay what they think something is worth. But in reality there is a thing as a pricing market for every series that tends to go up and down.

About a week ago I had stumbled across an auction that I didn’t think would go very high and I shared my feelings with a fellow collector who agreed and wasn’t going to bid on it. Today, I look in shock at the amount of bids this auction has. Curiosity killed the cat, so I looked at who was bidding. Everything looked normal until the collector I shared my feelings with was on the bidding list.

With even more curiosity, I asked the fellow collector to see if possibly feelings had been changed. Much to my surprise and annoyance the response was that the collector had bid because “they” were trying to help the person out and it was a nice thing to do. “They” also made the comment that it worked in the seller’s favor because someone was still going for it at a higher price. So, I asked if “they” were just raising the price of the auction but not really wanting the cel, and yes was pretty much the answer.

This seriously upset me because “they” were raising the overall market price for this particular series as well as making someone pay more than they might if “they” hadn’t bid. Someone could have actually gotten a cel at a cheaper price. The collector’s only justification was that it has happened to “them” and that it helped the seller.

This is beyond ridiculous and shouldn’t happen. What this collector is doing is ruining the pricing for the rest of us. I am so mad that this is happening that I thought it appropriate to inform the community. Thank you.
